The document stating that the TV output is not supported is hopelessly
obsolete. :-)

That's right. Unfortunately many of the hardware-accelerated resizers don't
support downsizing, or at least not in mplayer. Right now, I'm
hacking on the fbdev driver, to make it capable of software rescaling.
Expect results by Christmas. X-)

Not yet. Since it's a BIG itch for me, I'm scratching it desperately. I have
a working TV output, there's a Home Theater System (a TV with 1.5m
diameter!) in the common room of our residence, so there's no way I'm
gonna miss watching my DVDs on that screen! ;-)

No, you don't. Just be patient (or hack it up thyself).

PS: North American NTSC sucks. And there's no RGB input on them Yank TVs either. :-(
