Hi Nick,

Yeah? OK. I will take your word for it. :-) Maybe I should try
some comparisons with and without ":lvo:/dev/radeon_vid" and see if I
can see the difference.

Okie.

No, not by my Athlon TB 800 standards it is not, but I thought it
would have done better with Mplayer than 80+%, especially since I am
not using the software scaler. Mplayer is using 80+% to simply read
the AVI, (de)mux it and ship the data off to the video device to have
it do BES and play the audio.
My Athlon TB 800 plays the same file on Xv, unscaled (I am assuming
because the Radeon does scaling this is a fair comparison) in less
than 8% CPU. Is there really that much difference between a K6-300
and an Athlon-800?

You mean using the MPEG2 decoder on the card? But will that help with
an OpenDivX (or even MPEG1) stream?
> But ATI hides DVD related info (even for GATOS and X11 developers).
Yeah, I know. I would have avoided ATI due to that if there were a
choice in BES, TV-Out capable hardware.

Good. Still seems a bit jerky in some places. Maybe it's just me. I
have not sat down and watched a full program yet. Just sampling.

OK. Thanx.

Which codec(s) do the best job with:
MainAVIHeader.dwFlags: (65552) HAS_INDEX WAS_CAPTUREFILE
VIDEO: [DIVX] 320x240 24bpp 29.97 fps 1843.4 kbps (225.0 kbyte/s)
[V] filefmt:3 fourcc:0x58564944 size:320x240 fps:29.97
ftime:=0.0334
type files? How about audio codecs for:
Detected audio codec: [mp3] drv:1 (MPEG layer-2, layer-3)
mp3lib: Processor ID: 580
mp3lib: Using AMD 3dnow! optimized decore.
AUDIO: srate=22050 chans=2 bps=2 sfmt=0x10 ratio: 8000->88200
It would seem that Mplayer chose the
Detected video codec: [odivx] drv:3 prio:0 (OpenDivX (MPEG-4 v2))
for video. I would hope that is the best one since I left it up to
Mplayer to decide.
