[Mplayer-users] is gcc 3.0 a good upgrade?

Hi. I am using MPlayer at the moment compiled with the
-gcc-check-disabled
option (RH 7.1,, with an upgraded gcc 2.96 bugfix from
RedHat). However,
MPlayer tells me to use gcc version 3.0+. Is there a
noticable difference
with this compiler, and is it much better than the
