Yes I did with the same results as with -afm 1, see below.

Yes, it does infact work with -nosound. I wonder what XFree has got to
do with this?

No it doesn't. With this option it freezes with both divx and mpeg at
the same time. and the -v and -v -v reveal nothing more, they too stop
at the same messages.

I've got a celeron 400 processor. strange as it actually works in
