you mean VCD disks? play them as VCD disk, not as DAT files.
(mplayer -vcd 2 /dev/cdrom)

or apply some VCD reading patches to your kernel and mount
that disk as mode2 disk, so the DAT files are readable
(without corruption, just like under windows).
