There must be many possibilities. Here's the one I use:
Most of the video-streams remain in the Cache of the browser. The only thing
to do is to recover the file from the Cache directory. It is very easy if you
use as browser, Opera. With it installed, you just have to go to
"Program-files\Opera\Cache4" and there to list the files with sizes included.
Immediatly, you will see one file a lot bigger than the others. This is
"your" file. Sometimes, the name is not related (for example a *.tmp file).
If you know that the file is a Quickmovie or an Avi file, the only thing to
do is to cut&paste the file and to change the name.
If the file is a Quicktime (*.mov or *.qt one) one, you can transform to avi
(with very good quality) using Rad Tools. Radtools is free to download.
Than, you can copy the final file to Linux and enjoy mplayer.
