[MPlayer-users] audio encoding v2 + maybe bugreport too

i've made some tests...

so:
the files are 1minute long
the original one was in an avi file and was 96kbit/s cbr mp3

abr_64 		: created with mencoder+mplayer-dumpaudio, abr:br=64
cbr_64 		: created with mencoder+mplayer-dumpaudio, cbr:br=64
mencoder_v0	: created with mencoder+mplayer-dumpaudio, q=0  
mencoder_v9	: created with mencoder+mplayer-dumpaudio, q=9

the remaining mp3's were created directly with mp3lame (i dumped the
audio with -ao pcm ( it has 2 vbr-modes, old and new, but as you can see
there's not much difference in filesize ( the new one is 2x faster then
the old btw))

the ogg files were created with oggenc v1.0 with -q0 and -q9.

so there are 2 'problems' at least for me:

1. mp3lame can't really make big or small files in vbr mode ... look at
how less the filesize differs by q0 and q9 compared to the ogg files.
the files created with -q 9 (worst quality ) are still around 105kbit/s.

2. mencder's filesizes differ even less , less than mp3lame's files...
is there a reason for that? i expected nearly identical-length files
when using mencoder and when using mp3lame.


any ideas what went wrong?
