I just succeeded in compiling mplayer with dvdnav, thanks to the patch 
of Jonas Jerman, version of 2002-08-09, mplayer in the cvs from 
2002-08-09. Tested DVD is the german LOTR, first DVD.

Starting command is mplayer -v -dvd -1. mplayer gets the key of the DVD, 
recognizes audio streams and subtitles, chooses audio and video codecs, 
starts with playing - and crashes. Here the full log:
