you mean from your sound card, /dev/dsp?
Try changing your mixer settings. Are you recording from the 'Line' input?

I have tried without success to record from btaudio with my Pixelview 
PlayTVpro card.  /dev/dsp1 gives no output, dsp2 gives silence.

Why dsp1? Tried dsp2?

That would be consistent with what I (dont) get from btaudio/dsp1 .
What does sox report from dsp1 ?

Muting shouldnt affect recording, if you are using the right line. Its for 
output.

Why dsp2 here but not before? Whats the difference between the "analog" 
and "digital" btaudio dsp devices?
