yes

maybe.
i have HP Omnibook 500, it comes with same video chip, and has teh same
artifacts, ie red is too red (and has some saturation effect) on LCD.
i think the problem is that its YUV->RGB converter isn't designed for LCD,
if i connect a TV or CRT monitor it has correct picture/colors.
anyway i can change brightness/contrast/etc, both ati2 and xvidix.

i don't think so, vidix driver and even win98 wmp has the same problems.

Maybe it's not even the problem of the video chip(s), but the LCD/TFT
technology itself. Even still images has problems with color correctness.

Also, the same problem exists with video projectors, i recently tested some,
and there is a big quality (color) difference between LCD/TFT and DLP
methods in color corectness/contrast.
