[MPlayer-users] Vobsub format .IFO files no longer needed

Apologies that my last message didn't seem to go in the thread. I'm not sure what happened, here's hoping this one goes in the right place.

I've tried it without passing -vobsub, but I can't get the subtitles to display. I've made sure the rar's are v2.80. Is there perhaps a config option I should define to tell mplayer to autoload the rar file? I've defined a key in input.conf to toggle the subs, but while they are enabled I still get no subs. I probably should have said so sooner, but I'm currently using version 0.90rc1-3.2 of MPlayer.

I've tried a couple of different movies/subtiles and can't get any to display. I don't see any indication of mplayer loading the rar file in the log. Could I be missing something in a config file perhaps?

I couldn't spot anything in the documentation or the faqs about using rar'ed subs except for a note in menecoder docs about how to create them. Can someone give me a kick in the right direction?
