[MPlayer-users] "-aop list=surround" is slooooooow!

How come "-aop list=surround" slow things down to about 50% of normal speed?
The CPU usage is ~ 0.5%, so cpu usage is not an issue.


I've timed it :)

time mplayer 2DTV_Bush_Ad.mpg -vo null -ao null
real: 10.138 seconds

time mplayer 2DTV_Bush_Ad.mpg -vo null -ao null -aop list=surround
real: 20.538 seconds
