I did that. That's where I got my ideas about catting, piping and avimerge
(there was a thread some time back about concatenating avi files using
cat/-forceidx and avimerge).

I've actually just got it working a few minutes ago, using a Wine hack
suggested on the wine-users list. I got VirtualDub to produce a 6.5GB OpenDML
AVI, which works perfectly with mencoder.
Quite frankly, we ought to stop using AVI as it's so outdated and the
extensions are so hacky. Perhaps we should be encouraging the use of OGM
containers or something. (Vorbis audio in mencoder would be nice, too :)
