No-no. I meant:

if you issue the following command:	ls *txt
(and you have 1.txt and 2.txt in the current directory)
shell will call program ls with:	ls 1.txt 2.txt
(btw, it will remain ls *txt, if no files match *txt)

while, if you isse:			ls "*txt"
shell will call progtam ls with:	ls *txt
