[MPlayer-users] awful results with mencoder

Hi list,

I've been trying to and fro with mencoder, but both, ripping DVDs and encoding my DVB-S-records into DivX 4.02, have resulted in
awful pictures ...

I've used the folloing options at last:

mencoder  -ovc divx4 -divx4opts br=933000:deinterlace:q=5 -npp hb,vb,hr,vr,h1,v1,al,lb,li,ci,md,tn   -oac mp3lame -lameopts
br=16:q=0:vbr=2:mode=0 -pass 1 -ofps 25 -o 003.divx 003.vdr

Using 933 kBit/s results in DVD-near-quality pictures when using Windoze (Did I mention, that I don't like Windoze!?!), but in Linux
I didn't get any good picture.

Can anyone give me good settings for mencoder and DivX (there's something with hex-settings for 'pp' ...)?
