[MPlayer-users] splitting avi files

Here is a link that jumps into a thread on this subject:

http://mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer-users/2002-April/013635.html

Whenever I split an avi to burn onto CD-R's, I enter the size (i.e.,
700mb) as the parameter for (misnamed) -endpos. I note the total time of
that file to determine the -ss parameter for the next, since neither -ss
nor -sb seem to work with size (specifying the size in -endpos refers to
the output file, and the size in -ss would refer to the input file to
make any sense).

It would be nice for mplayer to come with a simple utility like avisplit
or split.
