[MPlayer-users] libavcodec problems

hi,

i have problems with libavcodec..

i have a 80Mb avi  with [MPG4] video ( i don't know exactly which 
mpeg4-mutant this is ) .. and i wanted to de-interlace it...

as mplayer told me the file's video stream was at 2400bkbps, i used:

mencoder -oac copy -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=2400 
neverwinter.avi -o out.avi

it produced a 40Mb file ( video data 1200kbps )...

i browsed thru the mail-archives, found vqmin=2... tried, no help.
i tried then vme=5 ... no help ( i don't really know why should it help )...

i looked thru the documentation, man-pages... i've found vratetol, but 
the docs said the default tolerance is 1Mbyte... so i decided to leave 
that switch out...

sorry i didn't send a bugreport, i'll do it if you tell so...

actually i NEVER EVER succeeded in creating a libavcodec encoded file 
with acceptable filesize... it was always too small...


maybe i don't understand something about libavcodec...

simply it's unable to create a file of given size ( i won't mind if it 
would be 78Mb insted of 80, but it's 40 instead of 80 ).. and the 
quality is of course worse than the original...
