It shouldn't matter what format the original is, you just use -vo yuv4mpeg to 
get a video stream that mpeg2enc (mjpegtools) can encode to mpeg-1 or 2. For 
the audiostream you can use mplayer -ao pcm to get a wav file out of it and 
then feed it to mp2enc. Mplex the resulting two files and use vcdimager to 
make an image, burn with cdrdao and be happy.

Some of the codecs only work on x86 so you might get stuck there, though.
