this patch:

broke alsa9 surround playback ( like "-ao alsa9:surround40 -channels 4"
and "-ao alsa9:surround51 -channels 6" ),
at least on my sblive5.1, but another user reported the same error too:

when playing back surround sound, the video is kind of skipping... it
plays for approx 0.1sec, then stop for 0.1sec, then play for 0.1 sec,
then stops for 0.1sec etc..

and on the console you get for every 'skip' this error:
"
alsa-space: xrun of at least 46,746 msecs. resetting stream 0,0% 0 0 0%
"

so before that patch, it worked, after that patch it doesn't work...
