It can, i've it working fine here.

For those too lazy to compile it themselves i've created a deb file from
yesterdays CVS. It enabled the new conf, menu and QT codecs alogn with
all the standard stuff (libvorbis, xanim, real, win32). But i'd really
recommend building from CVS yourself for best performance.

To get QT working just extract the three files from
http://www.hetherington.co.uk/files/linux/debian/Quicktime.tar.bz and
drop them into /usr/lib/win32 then either install the deb from
http://www.hetherington.co.uk/files/linux/debian/ or compile from CVS
with --enable-qtx-codecs in addition to your usual options.

I only have two Quicktime files, but it works perfectly for both of
them.
