Hi all,
Apologies if this has been covered already but I am having trouble
getting mplayer working since upgrading to Red Hat 8. When I run it it
complains as follows:
[rony at rony videos]$ mplayer *.avi
mplayer: /usr/lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.3' not found (required by
mplayer)
mplayer: /usr/lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.3' not found (required by
/lib/libdl.so.2)
mplayer: /usr/lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.3' not found (required by
/lib/i686/libpthread.so.0)
mplayer: /usr/lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.3' not found (required by
/usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6)
mplayer: /usr/lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.3' not found (required by
/usr/local/lib/libaa.so.1)
if I do a locate for libc.so.6 I get:
[rony at rony videos]$ locate libc.so.6
/var/ftp/lib/libc.so.6
/usr/lib/debug/libc.so.6
/usr/lib/libc.so.6
/usr/i386-glibc21-linux/lib/libc.so.6
/lib/i686/libc.so.6
/lib/libc.so.6
[rony at rony videos]$
I have added added each of the library paths from above to
/etc/ld.so.conf if they were already there followed by running the
ldconfig command. I then re-compiles mplayer and still the same
problem. Am I doing something obviously wrong here?
I am currently using MPlayer-0.90pre8 to compile. Help!
Cheers
Ronnie
