[MPlayer-users] mtrr detection k6-2 freebsd

there is one message (cited below) in the archives by someone who's
detection of _mmx_ didn't work.

looks to me like the mtrr detection is not working either, though. i am
also using freebsd(4.6), amd k6-2 and the latest mplayer (pre7). kernel
mtrr support is enabled, which dmesg confirms. unfortunately a look into
config.log shows, mtrr support wasn't detected. 

what can i do about that? as my computer isn't too fast, i'm going to need
the extra horsepower, i guess.

as for the  instructions referring to mtrr, they aren't working for me. i
can't cat either of /proc/mtrr  (no such file or directory) and
/proc/cpuinfo
