Lately when encoding DVDs with lavc, I sometimes very often get ERROR5 like:
cat [12345].vob | mencoder -v -ifo movie.ifo -aid 128 -vobsubout Police_Academy_1 -vobsuboutindex 2 -vobsuboutid en -sid 2 -ovc frameno -ofps 23.976 -oac mp3lame -lameopts vbr=0:br=96:mode=1 -o frameno.en.avi -

Searching the docs and Google didn't reveal anything, maybe I should look in the source...

It usually is c=0 and c=1 errors, but now on Police Academy 1, I get constantly increasing c...

What is the reason/meaning for the error?
What is "c=" for?

Also why does MEncoder sometimes switch fps like the above example, even if they are explicitly stated on the command line :-(

Is just the DVD/my DVD-ROM/my SCSI card/cable broken?

Kalin.
