Hi,

i have a problem with all new xvid movies - they stutter every second. it
looks like mplayer doesn't play the frames in the right order. It plays then
skips a frame and then plays the skipped frame or something like that.
I uploaded a small example to

ftp://ftp.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/incoming/xvid-stutter.avi

i read something about it in the doom9 forum they think it has to do something
with packed bitstream and isn't a bug of the xvid encoder because ffdshow
(libavcodec on windows) has the same problem while all other codecs seem to
play those files fine.
but mplayer has this problem even when i use the latest xvid codec instead of
libavcodec for playback.

- this really isn't a cpu problem (cpu usage is about 20%)
- dma for the disk is enabled
- mtrr's are set up correctly
- no other programs are running that could eat cpu cycles or disk throughput
- the problem also exists if i use -nosound
- mplayer is using 1024Hz RTC
- mplayer is CVS from yesterday

since i can play dvd's and all other files totally smooth it really seems to
be a bug in mplayer concerning new xvid file or did i miss something ??

thanx c.s.
