I have to confirm what the others answered you, too. I used to use a system
with the same configuration. PII-400 with nVidia Riva TNT on a Intel BX440
based motherboard. No proplems with MPEG4 unless you have some with really
huge resolutions (greater 700 x XXX). Installing the drivers form nVidia did
the trick under X, or without thouse using vesa driver form console.
Parameters framedrop and double used to give me good results, too. Make sure
that RTC is set properly. (as root: echo 1024 >
/proc/sys/dev/rtc/max-user-freq)
