Nope, this is a dumb method proposed by the idiot author. It WILL make
movie playback choppy and is just total nonsense. The screensaver
should have a config file that lets the user tell it not to activate
when certain apps are running.
If you really want the 'stop xscreensaver' option to work, make it so
mplayer sends SIGSTOP to the screensaver when starting a movie, then
SIGCONT when it's done.
Or better yet, stop using a screen "saver". It does the exact opposite
of saving your screen, loading the cpu with useless crap and keeping
the monitor on while your computer is idle, making much more heat and
wasting lots of energy. If you let your cpu idle and your monitor use
dpms powerdown, it will be much better!
