Hmmm, BSD/OS has bash in /bin - not sure about NetBSD or OpenBSD.

Well, SUN sells a crippled system - not much of anything useful
installed unless you build it your self ;)
I'll have to check the FBSD system - I thought it had bash in /bin
but you may be correct that /usr/local/bin is where bash is found.

Yes, you missed my complaint that ./configure fails at line 5403 ;)
Apparently /bin/sh doesn't like a unary '!'. Thus I suggested
using 'test' - which works I believe.
All this fuss to support windoze (the test in question is for
cygwin: "if x86 ! cygwin; then") no less.
