Actually, I read somewhere that there is actually a hardware
compatability problem regarding this set of discs and certain DVD-ROM
drives. It is likely not an Mplayer issue at all.

The recommended solution was to check the website of your drive
manufacturer for a firmware update.

Took the same DVD, put it in the laptop, and was able to play it just
fine.

On the workstation, I am able to play other DVDs, including the
oritinal release of Fellowship. The only differences is that defiant
(the
workstation) is running the deb of mplayer-k6 0.90rc2-0.1 from
marillat.free.fr, while mekong (the laptop) is running mplayer
0.90pre7.

Any ideas?
