I think it is quite useful for very complex programs, where the man
page (and just --help) easily gets too long.  Works nicely for CVS et
al, and would be really great for tools like rpm ('rpm -q help' would
be nice.)

Okay.  I can definitely sympathise with this.

I don't think those are very important, really.  A bit of disk space
is cheap, and let those who need it do the translations.

Works for me.  Good built-in help is definitely a plus, however.
