[MPlayer-users] encoding interlaced DVD material

Hi, I would like to encode material from an interlaced dvd. My primary
output will be on a tv set via the -vo mpegpes output with a DVB card; I
think I shouldn't deinterlace it at encoding time for the best quality.
But what about mpeg4 encoding of interlaced material? Is the -lavcopts'
option "ildct" needed or at least useful when interlaced material is
being encoded?

bye and thank you
as

P.S. divx 503 is known to deal with interlaced material. Was lavc
already there few months before?
