mpeg_quant + trellis quantization is not a very well tested combination and 
may be buggy (maybe u want to compare mpeg_quant vs. h263 without trell, i 
dont really expect a different relative behavior but who knows ...)

btw, if u have some video which shows "trails" when encoded, then i would be 
interrested to get that
