No, this doesn't matter at all. The problem is 4:1:1 sampling.

You get 60 hideously ugly frames per second instead of 30 nice pretty
ones, and you lose the ability to resample framerate, to rescale
video, to take still pictures, etc. etc. etc. Interlacing is an
abomination.

ROTFL!! None of MEncoder's deinterlacers are at all acceptable. li and
ci just interpolate from even fields, throwing away half the
framerate and wasting space. lb, l5, and fd create horrible blurring
or ghosts. md destroys all local extrema.

Never deinterlace, it's just destructive. Always get real progressive
equipment.
