Since Nandub uses DivX (or maybe DivX ;) or whatever) it's hard to 
imagine it's capable of superior quality. Mencoder can use DivX, Xvid, 
or lavc. Nandub probably has more of a user interface than mencoder, but 
that's what tools like Gmencoder are for. Remember that what matters 
most to quality is the encoder. The filters are also significant.
