[MPlayer-users] NOVIRUS mpeg encoding error

I encoded mpeg file using following command line:
mencoder \*.tga -mf on:w=300:h=300:type=tga:fps=10 -ovc lavc
        -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=16000:vhq -of mpeg -o output.mpeg

During the encoding, there was no suspicious warnings except this:
Unknown block type, possibly non-MPEG stream!
Pos:   1.9s     19f ( 0%)   5fps Trem:   0min   0mb  A-V:0.000 [890:0]

But trial to see the output mpeg file using mplayer only gave me a
failure with the following error message:
FPS not specified in the header or invalid, use the -fps option.
No stream found.

I tried -fps option which gave me another error message:
problematic line I guess. -> The selected video_out device is incompatible
with this codec.
