this is the mingw ver, but cygwin and mingw are similar, so its not important.

you probably need the codecs for windows media player, like ac3 and mpeg2
you can also ask win32 questions on mplayer-cygwin at mplayerhq.hu . of course
all of these lsits arent really the best for asking questions about WMP :)
