Sorry to have troubled you with this, it's now resolved. I found today that ALSA is now at 1.0.2, so I upgraded ALSA and the recompiled MPlayer against the new ALSA libs and I get glorious 5.1 sound now. Many thanks for all your hard work.../Taras
