Look at the mplayer output at startup to see which AO driver it's
using (oss or esd). Killing esd should make it use oss by default. BTW
ALSA provides the oss api too, so if you switch to alsa you can use
that or the native alsa stuff. Personally I think the oss api is much
better (follows unix design philosophy) whereas the alsa api is more
windows-ish, but since you can use oss api with either it doesn't
matter.
