[MPlayer-users] Query: ioctl mcapture failed: Invalid argument

Good day,

I have just spent that last few evenings bringing up a new machine (P3 550,
Asus CUSL2, Asus v6600 Deluxe, SB Live) to act as a PVR. It's running a
Debian install w/ a custom 2.4.22 kernel, rivatv. While working through an
install of Freevo, I have stalled out on the mplayer/mencoder 'step' ... And
I'm not sure how to proceed, whether I've missed something stupid (I've spent
_hours_ over the last three evening googling, poking, proding etc ...) and
the closet I've come seems to give me a blast (endless string) of:

ioctl mcapture failed: Invalid argument
ioctl mcapture failed: Invalid argument
ioctl mcapture failed: Invalid argument

I've seen a couple of references to the string, but not any solutions; or
even paths to explore. I know that the video capture is working ok, as xawtv
is going like a bear; :).

I know that the command line that I've been using needs to be tweaked, but
i've had no joy at all. Any advice on how to move forward, or even where to
look.

all the very best in the new year;

Tim
