I think it better to have the subject read "[BUG REPORT]" with
the "patch" appearing as a suggested fix after a detailed bug
report.  Aside from the mplayer output, there should be info on
the sound card (I suspect the "buffer" problem affects onboard
sound).  I suggest the mplayer output be produced using "mplayer
-v -frames #".  There should be one for an old -ao alsa1x CVS
checkout and another for the lastest -ao alsa.
