[MPlayer-users] can't open iconv descriptor

Hi,

I get this message when trying to open a subtitle file.
I compiled iconv-1.9 and mplayer-1.0pre2 myself.
I think it has to be a permissions missetting or something,
because when I run it as root, it works just fine;
but I haven't found the problem solution @ FAQ or documentation.
  Do anybody know what to do?
