I have a simple program that I use to test compiling OpenGL. The ATI drivers
do not include a libGL.a file. I did these compiles after rerunning ldconfig
as root.
gcc testgl.c -o testgl -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lXext -lX11 -lGL -lm
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lGL
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
gcc testgl.c -o testgl -L/usr/X11R6/lib -L/usr/lib/ati-fglrx -lXext -lX11 -lGL
-lm
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lGL
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
gcc testgl.c -o testgl -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lXext -lX11 -lGLU -lm
ldd testgl

I have opened a bug at the unofficial ATI Bugzilla site the source to testgl.c
is at that site.
