AFAICT no frames are actually dropped in this case. It's a feature, albeit
undocumented, that some developers use to estimate if they need to enable
framedropping or not. A patch has been posted to -dev-eng that makes
MPlayer behave just like you'd expect it to behave. We'll see if it's
accepted.
