libac3 is just an ancient version of liba52.  I can't see any reason you
would WANT to use it.

No.There doesn't seem to be any indication in the source that mplayer is
capable of compiling with external liba52. This isn't unusual, as
mplayer compiles (almost) everything statically, and there are many
reasons the use external libs is discouraged.
