Hi, I had a similar problems - I couldn't compile the 1.0.pre5 version. 
There was no configure-error but only a lot of compile-problems. I used 
the 1.0.pre-4 version till 1.0-pre6. With compiling 1.0-pre6 I have no 
more problems at all. Try use the pre-4 or pre-5 or other versions, 
compilling from source code.
Im not a developer. I'm only the user.
