Sorry. I do not understand why, but my mplayer man page is truncated.
I have looked for the complete page on the web and found
-subcp
-subfont-encoding
Their roles are not the same at all, and -subcp works fine for my
problem as soon as the encoding style does _really_ match an iconv
encoding style : I gave a wrong encoding style in my first tries of
-subcp... I might be tired...

Another error I made was to think my test-iso8859-15.srt was really
iso8859-15. I thought that because my locales are fr_FR at euro.
But actually, it was iso8859-1 only, and that is why the euro sign was 
wrong.

So, everything is OK now.
