hi,

mplayer refuses to play xvid-avis >2gb under linux, under windows mplayer
plays them fine. since it should be the same sourcecode, i find this very
strange.

the errors in detail:

startup of the movie takes for ages - mplayer starts, detects the file
format avi and hangs there for a while, then it finally opens all the
decoders and stuff and ends up:
Starting playback...
mpg123: Can't rewind stream by 32 bits!
- freezes right here.

another movie encoded in the same session with nearly identical settings
ends a little diffrently:
Starting playback...
alsa-play: xrun of at least 1325,193 msecs. resetting stream?% 0 0
A: 0,6 V: 0,1 A-V: 0,526 ct: 0,008 3/ 3 ??% ??% ??,?% 1 0
- freezes right here.

so actually it looks audio-related but when i add -nosound to my commandline
it simply freezes right at the start of playback as well
Starting playback...
V: 0,2 6/ 6 ??% ??% ??,?% 0 0
- freezes

now when i trim down the avi to under 2gb it works like a charm, so audio
does not seem to be the cause, right?

as i read in the newsgroup, there were others having the same trouble
without finding a proper solution.
--enable-largefiles was taken care of during compilation.

reencoding the files is not an option, since i record a lot of
tv-shows/films wich don't compress to well and simply take up a lot of
space, especially when they are long.

does anybody know what actually causes this behavior?

greetings,
/jc
