I found another interesting thing, I tried to try out oss emulation, but
look at this:
I use mplayer with a zsh alias like this way:

mplayer -ao alsa:device=hw=0 -vo xv blafoo.mp3
-> distortions

I tried starting to experiment now and
mplayer blafoo.mp3
-> _no_ distortions.

However, same sound device is used.
