You should not top-post; that meaning you should let the original
message up and write your reply at the bottom; better for the threading
system.

What do you mean by "normal" frontend of mplayer? Mplayer is a command
line program that displays only a video window. It comes with a GUI for
GNOME that can be optionally compiled, called gmplayer; but gmplayer is
*not* mplayer.  If your linux OS launches a GUI when you click an
MPlayer icon that means it launches gmplayer or some other frontend of
your OS.
Limewire is a file sharing program, I understand. If it uses mplayer for
playing videos, it means it doesn't launch that frontend. It is not a
bug, and looks like no problem to me. You should be able to configure
Limewire to launch gmplayer (or whatsoever frontend you have). Not being
a Limewire user, can't help you there.
