Well, as much as I hate to say it, I'm not sure these options are
going to pop up out of the ground any time soon. The black-and-white
subtitles already implemented in MPlayer are pretty readable as-is,
and with a ton of other large projects being pushed (GMplayer, DVD
Menu support (though that one is either going to not happen, or is a
long way off), h.264, etc. etc.) it doesn't seem like full SSA/ASS
support is a high priority.
