Jeff,

THanks, I did download ffdshow codec now and I am having better luck.

I was stuck on the fact that I thought WMP should be able to play an avi.

How about making sure the windows box has the decoder it needs? I
suggest ffdshow.

I also think it's possible to put msmpeg4 in avi, and get WMP to do
its "call home, install codecs" routine. I'm not sure what fourcc this
requires.
